GRAND HOTEL
* * * *
DESCRIPTION
The Grand Hotel is the largest hotel on the Island. It was built in 1887 and features the longest porch in the world, at 660 feet. The hotel is the site of many conventions, as well as being a major tourist destination. For this reason, it is extremely important to know how to get there.
DIRECTIONS
From the Barracks: Take the road in front of the Barracks right, around the back of Governor’s Mansion and the Grand’s golf course to the stables on the right and turn left on that road. The Grand will be on the right.
From Town: Take Market Street away from the fort until you see Chamber’s Riding Stable on the right. Turn right just past Chamber’s onto Cadotte Avenue. The Grand is at the top of the hill.
TOURIST INFORMATION
The Grand tries to discourage non-guests from gathering on their property, so anyone wishing to enter the hotel or its grounds will be charged an admission fee. There is no charge, however, for touring the Grand’s stables and carriage museum, located opposite the golf course on the hotel’s side.
