REMINDERS ABOUT BARRACKS FLAG CALLS
MORNING:
EVENING:
- Color Guard marches in
- "UNTIE" -- pull down clips (all Scouts in horseshoe stand at attention)
- "CLIP" -- (all Scouts in horseshoe place right hand over your heart) Color Guard clip on flag, checking top and bottom labels and to make sure you know who will be pulling the flag up
- Begin raising the flag (briskly) as bugler starts, Troop flag stays right below American
- Tie ropes and step back in circle around flag pole
- Scouts in horseshoe say Pledge of Allegiance -- Color Guard stand silently at attention (after Pledge Scouts in Horseshoe drop right hand back to side and continue to stand at attention)
- Color Guard turn to Barracks and march back to porch
- Color Guard remain on porch for announcements
EVENING:
- Color Guard marches in
- "UNTIE" -- (all Scouts in horseshoe stand at attention and place right hand over your heart) Color Guard untie ropes, check to make sure you know who will be pulling the flag down
- Begin lowering the flag (nice and slow) as bugler starts, American flag following above Troop flag
- Be ready to catch the flag as it comes down (don't reach for flag, allow it to come to you)
- "UNCLIP" -- (all Scouts in horseshoe lower right hand back to side and remain at attention) Color Guard unclip flag, one Scout hold flag and rope while other Scout runs clips back up, then Scout holding the flag should help pull rope tight as other Scout ties the rope.
- Fold flag neatly (no red showing!)
- Stand back in two lines and march back to Barracks porch
- Color Guard remain on porch for announcements
