DESCRIPTION
There are two butterfly houses on the Island.
Mackinac Butterfly House is home to more than 800 butterflies from around the world flying freely in a tropical garden setting. It opened in 1993, and admission is $5.00 Ask about a Scout discount
DIRECTIONS
Take Main Street to St. Anne’s Church, past the marina. The Butterfly House is a white house flanked by greenhouses behind the church.
Wings of Mackinac Butterfly Conservatory is located at Surrey Hills Square, where exotic butterflies from all over the world take flight in a beautiful tropical garden. Full-time curators are available to answer questions. There is an admission fee of $5.00. The Mackinac Island Carriage Tours stops at this attraction.
DIRECTIONS
From the Barracks: Take the road in front of the Barracks around the back of the Governor’s Mansion and continue behind the Grand’s golf course. At the intersection, turn right. Surrey Hills will be on your right.
From Town: Take Market Street away from the fort and turn right at Chamber’s Riding Stable. Go up Cadotte Avenue past the Grand. Surrey Hills will be on your right. OR you may get there by way of the Mackinac Island Carriage Tours.
